Why are more roofs not made of solar tiles?

Some people in the United States still dislike the appearance of solar panels, says Kate Collardson, who runs operations for the Solar Service of Colorado. Collardson has worked in many roles in the solar industry, from installer to instructor. She notes that a solar roof, which hides solar cells inside tiles or shingles, offers a more attractive alternative.

Some people in the US "still hate the look of solar", Kate Collardson acknowledges. Collardson handles operations for the Solar Service of Colorado, a solar maintenance and inspection company. She's also held just about every other job in the industry, from installer to instructor.
